In 2002, Michael W. Nier CBO, MCP founded Nier Building Inspections in Roswell, a firm that conducts inspections on new and existing buildings and structures in addition to investigating complaints regarding safety concerns. The aforementioned company is certified in construction, land development, and mold, radon, stucco and duct and envelope testing. Additionally, Mr. Nier remains active as a member of the International Code Council, the Georgia Association of Home Inspectors and the Northwest Georgia Inspectors Association. He has also taught numerous classes in South Carolina, Alabama, North Carolina, Georgia for architects and engineers.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Nier was a business unit manager for NOVA Engineering and Environmental, LLC, a building official for the City of Brookhaven, Georgia and a building official and plans examiner for Clark Patterson Lee between 2013 and 2015. Having served in similar positions even earlier, he was a building official for SAFEbuilt and the City of Dunwoody between 2008 and 2012, as well as a building official and plan reviewer for Clark Patter Lee from 2008 to 2012. In his first endeavor, Mr. Nier was a building inspector for the City of Smyrna from 2002 through 2008.
Mr. Nier obtained an Associate of Science in building trades from Alfred State College, part of the State University of New York, in 1992. Likewise, he has been designated as a level five professional building official by the Building Officials Association, a Georgia master code professional from the International Code Council and a certified master inspector from the Georgia Association of Home Inspectors. In five years’ time, Mr. Nier plans to experience the continued growth and success of his career, while also welcoming new, skilled professionals to the company.
